ETG HELPS FORT WORTH GO PINK TO RAISE BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

FORT WORTH, TEXAS (May 29, 2010) - Pink lights illuminated the night sky Saturday, May 29, on Lancaster Avenue as the City of Fort Worth showed its support for the thousands diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the United States. The 36-foot stainless steel sculptures known as Avenue of Light, a public art project, shone pink in concert with the "Pink Out II" at the PGA Tour's Crown Plaza Invitational golf tournament at Colonial Country Club. ETG's team of effects experts were called upon to create the special shade of pink symbolizing breast cancer awareness.

When Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief asked ETG to find a way to help the City celebrate "Pink Out II," ETG stepped up to the challenge. The Mayor wanted to highlight the six modern sculptures which line Lancaster Avenue. The sculptures, spanning five city blocks, are made of horizontal bands of stainless steel. They have proved notoriously difficult to light well since they were erected last year, but the Mayor wanted them pink. And we mean PINK! With some creative fixture placement and a lot of horsepower, ETG was able to achieve the goal and light the monoliths. "We recognize our responsibility to give back whenever we can, and this event was a perfect opportunity to do just that," said Joe Groves, ETG's Director of Operations. "If we helped raise awareness for the cause, we are very happy about that."

Pink Out II was the second annual event in which golfers and fans wore pink to show their support and raise awareness and funds for Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. The first "Pink Out" in 2009 was activated in support of defending PGA champion Phil Mickelson and his wife Amy, who was diagnosed with breast cancer just prior to the event. "Showing our support for Phil and Amy as well as the thousands of families in America affected by this terrible disease is the Fort Worth way," said Mayor Moncrief. "We encourage Fort Worth residents to pray for Amy's speedy recovery and that researchers will find a cure for breast cancer."

ETG is now in discussions with the City and the Arts Council of Fort Worth and Tarrant County on a permanent lighting solution which will enable the sculptures to be lit year around in any possible color. The City of Fort Worth's public art program commissioned Avenue of Light as part of Lancaster Avenue's reconstruction. The sculptures' contemporary design was inspired by the nearby Texas and Pacific Terminal's Art Deco architectural details.
